How to make a tap

This is my final model of a tap made on Maxon Cinema 4D
I started off with a normal cube
I then changed the settings of the cube using the scales at the bottom and set it to:
X:1000m
Y:20m
Z:300m
I then added segments. 8 for X and 3 for Z
I then clicked 4 of the segments and used the extrude tool to extrude it 150m
I then rotated 'P' by 30 degrees extruded it a further 150m I then rotated 'P' again by another 30 degrees and extruded it 150m again.
I then rotated 'p' another 20 degrees and then extruded it by 200m. I then rotated it again another 10 degrees. I then extruded it by 100m then 150m. I then clicked the segments at the bottom and extruded it by 100m
I then extruded inner by 30m I then extruded it by -150m to give it an inner.
I then added a Hyper Nurb to the cube to give it a round effect

This is final product with a metal material

Applications of 3d

CGI is used in many industries that aren't just TV or film, it is underestimated in how much it is used and how many jobs it is used in. It is used in architecture, gaming, education, advertising, medical and many more.

It is used in advertising either for the actual advert if they animate the advert or nearly all adverts have logos so they use CGI for something as simple as doing their logo just at the end of it because its better than filming a picture of their logo. But as you can see in this image they use CGI to make it look like the dog is baking the cake for its owner to come down, they would have to use CGI because you can't train a dog to do a pose like that.

This is another example of CGI but this time used in gaming. All games are made using CGI because it is a virtual world that is created by a massive team of animators, so everything you see in a game is CGI, they do use models of people to make the faces and bodies to make it easier to model the people. This would take a long time to make because of the amount of detail with it being for games consoles like Xbox Playstation and PC where as a game like 'Doodle Jump' would of taken next to no time at all with it being such a basic and easy game.

Architects also use CGI. This is an example from the MAXON website that an architect has produced, this can be used for a proposal and say to contractors this is my idea for what I want the room too look like. They will also have more rooms than this ready for them to see and if the contractor says to change something they can easier than building it then not liking it, also it is easier for the builders because they can see what to put it and where so it is a good tool for architects.

Sometimes CGI can be used for something as basic and fun like just general art. Someone has just decided to make this in some free time for some fun or maybe for a wall decoration. It is just a new version of modern art, it still takes a lot of talent but not as a job or they don't have a deadline to get it done they just do it whenever they feel like, they could then make it into a film or game if they choose to but they don't always have to.

first time using cinema 4d

On my first time using cinema 4d we got shown how to navigate the interface (move around the software) in one video then we learnt how to move, scale and rotate.

These are the icons to move scale and rotate

We then got asked to make a basic human shape using only cubes just to show we can use these 3 Icon's
So I started with a cube as a basic model, I then used the Scale tool to make it longer but keep it in the same place, I also put a red material on top of the cube.
I then added 2 more cubes, used the scale tool to make the cubes thinner but make them longer, I then moved them both into position so you could clearly see they were the arms.
I then added 2 more cubes for the legs, I put a blue material on these to make them look like jeans. I made the cubes thinner and longer and then moved them down to the bottom of the cube.
I then made a smaller cube for the neck and moved it above the body.
I then made a sphere and put a skin coloured material on it, made it smaller and put it on the top of the neck cube
I then added some forearms and made it look a bit like a superman type arm shape. I made more cubes and moved one of them up at the end of the arm and moved the other forearm to the bottom of the other arm.
This is the final piece rendered.

How to make a column

Start off by choosing the "cogwheel" shape from your top bar and then make it the size you want it. Then make it editable.
I then extruded the Cogwheel using the 'Extrude Nurbs' tool, but it makes it slanted so go to the properties in the bottom right corner and change the angle so it goes straight up and then you can extend it to the length you need it. Also I put a marble material on it to give it the colour it has got.
I then made a cube flattened it and put the material on it, moved it into place for it to be the top part of the column .
I then copied and pasted the last cube but then made it smaller and moved it down to attach it to the cogwheel to give it the column, it has already got the material on it because I copied and pasted it
I then copied and pasted both the cubes I used for the top span it round so the smaller cube was now on top I then moved it down to the bottom of the column and this is the final product of it all
I also added a floor and some lights but this is the final piece.

Final C4D pieces

My final pieces of 3D modelling

After practising on C4D a few times, making a Challice, a robot and column we then got told to make 6 models in C4D I decided to put them all into one scene.
This is the main scene that includes my Building model, My cannon on the right and my ship on the left. In this image you can't see but there is also an underwater part to this building and the glass tube going into the water is a lift with a platform in which I am going to add a person wearing my helmet model in. I think the way it looks is quite realistic as you can see the horizon, the sun is shining and it could actually be possible.

This is the model of my cannon which i put into this scene after making it in another C4D project I started off with the base making it from a cylinder but getting rid of segments to make it into an Octagon shape then flattened it in the Y axis the make it shorter but still the same width. I then copied and pasted it to get the upper part of the base but then got the middle point and extruded it up to make it look like a pyramid but put that cog over the point to make it look flat. I then got a cube to make the first leg, i cut it then extruded it again where you can see it get slightly thinner then moved the bottom 2 points to give it it's slant. Then made 4 copies of the leg and put them all around the base.
This is my spaceship that I made styled on the ships from the game 'Wipeout' when making this I mainly used a cube and extruded different points and used a picture of the ship I wanted to model it on to move the points around, this was one of the first models I attempted so I got some help from my Tutor Mike. I then added colour and thrusters to the back, I selected certain faces to make the glass and added decals to make it look better and not make it look plain.

This is the helmet I made I styled this on a normal motorbike helmet to get the basic shape of the helmet then cut a bit out to make the viser and beveled the ages around it so it had some thickness on the edges near the visor and on the bottom, to make it look futuristic I then added a bumpmap onto it. Then added the logo that is on the ship to show that its part of the same team/ group. I then extruded parts of it to make it look more futuristic with the ear type things on the sides.

This was the first model I did for my final piece, I started with this because I hadn't really used Cinema 4D before so I thought it was basic to start off with. At first I made the handle, which is just a cylinder, I scaled it down to that size and changed the colour to Gold, I then made the hilt which is a cone with a metal material after putting 2 discs either side of the Handle. I then added another smaller cylinder which I turned red for the button and then another cylinder with a glass material, I changed the colour to green and added a inner and outer glow to give it a Saber effect. I then did a bezier around 'arms' which i did around a picture of another lightsaber off the internet and copied and pasted it 4 times to put it all around it.
Because it was my first attempt at Cinema 4D I was happy with it but when I go back and look at it compared to my other models I think I could make it better with more detail.
This is the building I made where I then put all my other models into the scene, but first I made this building. To make the top I got a cylinder and flattened it but made it bigger, I then extruded the middle slightly, I then copy and pasted this to make the bottom and flipping it. I then added some columns into where the windows are by making a cube and using the 'array' tool and increasing the amount of columns used then added a plane of glass and did the same thing but moved the glass between the columns. I then copied and pasted this to make the bottom building. I then added a glass cylinder in the middle of them to make it look like a lift and put a platform inside by making a cylinder and flattened it to make a disc. I then made a rail by doing the same sort of thing as the columns but made them shorter to make the posts. I then made the rail using a torus but making it thinner and making sure it would go all the way around the building. I then added the pads by making a cube and flattening it and rotating it slightly onto another disc where I then imported my ship and cannon onto each pad. To make it more realistic I made a gab in the rail so the person that would be put into the scene can actually get to the cannon or ship. I then added an ocean into the scene just below where the disc in the lift. The ocean was my final model I made. I also added a sky material which is already in Cinema 4D.
For my final model I was going to make a gun but running out of time I made an ocean instead, I tried a few different ways of doing this, first off with a terrain but it was too dark and hard to make bigger. My tutor then found a water material, he gave me them to use so I made a cube and on the top level I put on  the top level of water I then added a blue plastic colour to the rest of cube to give it the feel of underwater, when you look at something through the cube it is displaced due to refraction which makes it look even more realistic. I then made a plane in the cube to add a sea bed I imported a picture onto the plane after getting the picture of an actual sea bed off Google images. It still looks cool even for a quick model.

Model Ideas

 Modelling Ideas

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASQ--luaUP4
This is one of the items I am looking to make in cinema 4D because I am looking to do futuristic type game and this is the type of ship I am looking to make as more of a scpacecraft than a large spacestation like the deathstar in Star Wars

This is also another futuristic item that I would like to make something similar but not exactly the same because I don't want it to be plagiarism, I just wanted it for a model.

This is a gun I found on the internet that I thought I could make something very similar and use this as a base model because it is a side view. Also it looks like it would be a challenge but not take up too much time so I wont get other models made
This is a cannon I found on google images I chose this because it would fit into the type of models I am making and I could use this to make other models that I want to make.
This house looks quite realistic and would fit in with the rest of the models as the base point where you could find all of the models come together and I also thought the building looked cool so I would try to make something very similar

I chose this helmet because it would be easy to make it look more futuristic and I also didnt want to copy any helmet from games like Halo or Crysis I want to make my own design of helmet. I chose it because it is basic, easy to change and also slightly futuristic.
